What TVR supplied quality component lasts longer than the same component on most mass produced vehicles?

There are of course many parts which last about the same time as they would on any given car like the window glass or ball joints etc which we share with other vehicles but this is a bespoke part for any vehicle or the design of it is.
A component on most cars from the 90’s you’d expect to have replaced by now.

I would say the body......most other cars 25+ years old are starting to rust

Well, the chassis's were sort of rubbish.
The leather used in the upholstery was rubbish
The power steering racks were made of cheese

The bodies themselves were quite good.

The button that switches off the dashboard lights so you can’t see what speed, revs or anything else!

The back lit numberplates on the earlier cars. Cause much confusion with MOT testers!

The hinged aluminium supports for the roof. They never go wrong.

I don’t think there is that much on the car that is specific TVR. Most things have been bastardised from everyday vehicles.

Take the windscreen wiper assembly, is net originally from a Ford Prefect

It’s a bespoke made part for our Tvr rather than an o/e product bastardised
It’s something you would expect to corrode over time in most cases
Great answers, by the time we finish Tvr will infact be known for some very reliable parts

The exhaust system deserves a mention, now I know your average Euro box exhaust post 2000 lasts a hell of a lot longer than they use to but many TVR Griff's and Chimaera are still wearing the original system 28 years later inc my own at 25

I’ve never read of early exhaust failure

Body is a good answer, but isn’t quality with this component also hit and miss?

I mean panel gap can vary wildly, and wasn’t there an issue with the Malaysian built ones?

That's not panel gaps, that's to let the heat, noise and power escape.

Mine didn't split, but it did develop pinholes on that seam, just under the jubilee clip (with a bulge in it) used to retain the hose to the expansion tank.

Which also had pinholes in it BTW.

It took a sodding age to work out where the coolant was escaping from.

Actually in fiber glass terms TVR are very good quality compared to Reliant Scimitar and GM Corvette for example and look at their budget in comparison, only time I have witnessed crazing and stress cracks on TVR is either impact trauma or bad repairs or both
