Nasty carpets

Hey all. Decided to give the baby a good inside/out clean last night just to find the carpet is mouldy & rotten behind the passengers seat.:furious: Serves me right for not checking it before I bought her last week!

Anyway, I have asked coverdales for a quote but should I go for Latex or Hessian backed? All advise gratefully received!

Dont go with Latex, as it holds in water a bit longer!

Elk, is your roof waterproofed?

As far as I know, I've had it lass than a week and was told it had been completely redone 3 months ago

You might want to reconsider that opinion. The roof may have been waterproofed, but anyone who has owned a Chim through winter will tell you that there are numerous other places it can get in.

I bought an excellent cover from covercraft, expensive but does the job exceptionally well and looks great.

After the rain last night it was slightly damp in the passenger footwell. SO...it's worth having it sealed again & obviously going round to the previous owner & telling him to get his wallet out?

Nah don't bother doing that. Get yourself to B&Q, buy a tin of Thompson's water seal (make sure it says compatible with tents and fabric etc), and paint it on. Dead easy, and if any splashes onto the bodywork its very easy to remove.

Just on the roof or over the back window too?

Put it on the roof only not the back window, but apply it carefully around the stitching. When I did mine i painted half the car with it as well as it flings off the brush, so go slowly with it and take your time. I think I put two coats on and you can see the difference as soon as it rains.

To be honest in the end I put a new roof on mine and it still leaked, (never did find out where from) best advice is to fit an aftermarket car cover like a leven half cover etc. I got so annoyed with mine I swapped it for a Cerb - no leaks now lol !
