Rear Brake Lights

My 99 Chimera has the later type rear lights the brake lights have been sticking on and have caused the o/s round brake light lens to drop down in to the light cluster any advise gratefully recieved.

Hi Simon,
You probably need to adjust the brake light switch, which if not set correctly will result in the brake lights being permenantly on.
If you grub around in the drivers footwell (why do so many jobs on a Tiv involve diving into the either footwell ?), look for the brake light switch (white plastic thing above the brake pedal) and adjust.
When the plunger in fully extended the brake lights will be on, and vice versa. In normal driving the brake pedal rests against the plunger and hence the lights are off. If currently on, just move the switch in towards the pedal - either by tightening up the nut on the back of the switch, or just moving the whole bracket a bit.
PS. Helps if you have a second person to tell you whats happening at your back end - if you know what I mean.
