Door keeps opening!
Discussion
Pleased to report that after 22 years my Chimaera is still finding news ways to amuse. As above the driver door kept opening whilst on the move, even though firmly shut. Prior to setting off had to open the car the powerless way due a flat battery and then start from another car. All seems to working ok now but, wondered if that had happened to anyone else. Unlike last time had remembered to keep the Anderson leads in the cabin, not the boot, so avoided the embarrassment of calling the RAC out.

This happened to me many years ago. Turned out to be a lazy door solenoid. It would happily fire forward to open the door but didn't run fully home when I released the open button. This assumes your car has under mirror buttons
That’s interesting as my passenger door opened a couple of times not when asked! I adjusted the door position lock/ latches and it was fine afterwards for about 2 years then developed a lazy solenoid which means the door won’t open from the inside unless the solenoid is helped along its way with a finger push so maybe it was related but o/p do check the lock is closing properly as it’s easy to adjust.

Cheers, Alun, will check that out.
No worries. In essence the doors have 4 points of movement.
The two door hinges themselves help line it up with bodywork
The door latch
The lock mechanism
If the door shut lines are good leave hinges alone
You can adjust the door latch which will help position the in and out of the door relative to body line in conjunction with the lock mechanism which can also be adjusted to similar effect.
I found my latch had slipped up the door on its fixings a few mm which meant it didn’t engage with the lock cleanly. I had noticed the door gap at the top had widened by a similar amount.
In my case I loosened the door bottom hinge and lifted it up to take that gap out.
Which meant I had to adjust both lock and latch positions as mentioned to achieve what is a really good In and out, up and down fit to body work.
It could just be your latch is not engaging very well with the lock, try adjusting lock out slightly or latch in by simply loosening the Allen bolts a touch, I marked the position of both before adjusting. That stopped the door opening involuntarily but it could be a lazy solenoid which is easy to check by pulling up the leap of carpet just behind top of passenger seat.
Goodluck
