12000 mile Service

New to Tvr ownership, local dealer quoting me £750.00 for 12000 mile service is this normal price? seems a bit steep.Thanks

Forget that. Go to an independant, plenty around.

I had mine done there last week, very thorough, and a nice chap. Hes an ex-mechanic from Christopher Neill TVR (Northwich). Cost me £250 for a 6k service, so you're probably looking at £450-£550 for a 12k service.

It's not a million miles from the going rate. In fact I think it's last years rate at my local dealership (they've reduced the rates this year ).

PoD is right that there are plenty of respected independants around that will do you a good job for significantly less. I'm sure you could get below £500 if you shop around - but you won't get a dealer stamp. On the other hand TVR don't make V8s any more.

Think I know who you mean. Mine ended up costing £2k! Mind you, 2xrear tyres and other bits and bobs didn`t help, either... Car (griff 5oo) was with em for 5 weeks (waiting for parts). They were, however, professional and helpful. That was 6k service. I`m usually stuck for time, hence it went there but I may take elsewhere next time. Hurt me pocket as I`d only just bought the car, took it straight for service, didn`t see it for 5 wks...ho hum. You takes your chances and all that!

Stop moaning and get ye hand in ye pocket. Its a crackng car, so get it into that dealer and just see how they can work on that bill.

Its not such a snip when you're paying for glass walls, marble floors, coffee machines, and a fancy telephone answering machine. Dealers are more expensive not because they offer a better service, but because their overheads are higher

Paid £740 for my 12,000 yesterday. Mind you, that did include new rear brakes disks and pads, wipers and a headlight. Service is only £510.

And that included being collected from the station in my own car. Great to see the effect the noise and looks has on the common man as it pulled up. More proof that Fernies are great!
