:confused:the question is if you use exhaust heat rap
from demon tweeks will it,lower the cabin temp?help with over heating ?,if the exhaust heat raise the temp of the incoming air The big question is ,the colder the air flow the better the runnig??is this right.

Incoming air to the engine comes through the grille, the air filter, and up the long pipe on the passenger side of the car doesn't it? On that basis, you'd be better off lagging the air intake

I know of a few people who have got this stuff on new astra turbos and they have cooled the engine down. I am thinking of doing this in the next couple of weeks. It should keep the cabin temp down and the engine temp down but i wouldnt expect dramatic changes. Possibly 2 to 5 degrees c in the engine bay.

You need to think carefully about this.

As the exhaust gasses pass down the pipe they cool. If the lagging works, the gasses in the exhaust pipe will remain hotter further down the pipe. When they get to an unlagged bit they will give off greater heat at that point then they would have without the lagging. Using lagging can keep your engine bay cooler and prevent the radiant heat from the headers from damaging engine components. But if the lagging ends just below your feet then your foot well is going to get hotter.

I used wrapping tape on a sports manifold on a striped out car that I used to run. The heat comming throught the steel floor pan used to cook my calf muscles on long journeys! I am not sure that it will do a fiberglass floor panel any good.

Yes to all that. Exhaust wrap lowers the temperatures in the engine bay, and that's good for lots of reasons.

thanks everbody for your views ,dont want to melt car lowering the temp under the bonnet will do all sparky bits the world of good ,just wrapping to the bottom of the bay should be ok??

A word of warning using heat rap. In my experience with using this wrap on race cars it increases the temperature of the exhaust and can cause cracks in the area wrapped. Not a problem for racing cars as they are apart so often, but can be a problem on road cars but does depend alot on how you drive your Chim.
