Horrible grinding...

Driving home last night I was assailed by an horrific grinding noise as I drove along.

On the plus side it was comming not from the engine or gear box but from behind me to the right. My seat belt died.

I didn't even know that seat belts could die especially when just driving along.


So what I need now is a bright idea about either fixing the damn thing (no return I've a lot of loose seat belt sitting behind the seat)
Or alternatily replacing it if any of you know which parts to use / how easy it is?

I've got the bible but haven't had a chance to look at it yet for any good advice.

I just checked Steve Heath's Bible, it doesn't list the manufacturer, but it does say that they're a standard inertia reel design. It also says that rainwater can over the years corrode the mechanism - check yours for any rust.

www.securon.co.uk/ should be able to supply you a replacement, although I have a sneaking suspicion that the original mechanisms are very very similar to the ones fitted to the old shape Range Rover....
