Hi all,

I've recently purchased my first TVR after touring the factory back in 1999. Unfortunately my drivers door window does not fully open due to, as it turns out, a non original mechanism.

Does anyone know if new oem ones are available or an alternative that allows the glass to go fully down?

The motor is fine, it's a mechanical issue with the replacement mechanism.

Thanks in advance.

P.s. I'm in New Zealand.

How are you determining that the mechanism is not original? can you add some photos?

Hi Steve,

Jim Gamsby, the NZ TVR specialist had the door card off to investigate when the car was in with him. He was an independent TVR specialist in the UK before moving to NZ a number of years ago so knows his stuff.

Cheers.

I bought the motor from the TX1 taxi when I wanted a replacement. The mechanism looks the same too but I no longer have a Chimaera to compare. Not sure if they will ship to NZ?

For the driver's door, you need the one from the passenger side front door, which is handy as this is the one used least in a taxi. smile

Motors are available new from Racing Green:

The actual Taxi mechanism does NOT work for a TVR. It may LOOK as if it will but it doesn't.

1/ It is too tall.
2/ There is no height adjustment anyway.
3/ The bend at the bottom is too acute.
4/ The mounting plate for the window needs considerable modification.

Save yourself a lot of tears and buy an original one fron a reputable breakers yard.

Seriously.

Cheers.

Al.

BTW the Taxi motor is a direct replacement and can usually be picked up for about £20.00
always remembering that L/H = R/H and vice versa,

Thanks Al.

Surprised the regulators are available new but not the mechanism and scrappy second hand ones are very pricey.
