Quick question for Tacoma - Brakes

You mentioned in a previous post that your brakes were pretty dire having fitted the correct sized front pads, has this now gotten better or have you managed to find out why they are so poor?
My Chim hopefully comes back from the bodyshop this week and I need to get the front pads swapped over but am a little hesitant if there appears to be a problem with them.

Greattohear from you. The new pads CORRECTLY FITTED are fantastic, not since i got rid of my bike have i done such a great stoppie!!!
I had not but the retaining spring on correctly, hardly surprising as I stripped everything, had a bottle of red at a surprise BBQ (quite unusually) then reassembled (half pissed) in the evening. Even now writing this I can't belive how stupid it sounds.
So last weekend I re-stripped, recleaned the guides and used lithium grease instead of copper grease, CORRECTLY RETURNED THE SPRINGS!!! and instantly they were fantastic. Within a short run to Heathrow and back on Sunday night it was back to comfortable stop on a dimeville, USA. (whole job, both sides should take less than an hour, the mechanics of jacking, axle stands and wheel removal replacement is the long bit)

Doh!!! You had me worried for a while that I'd made a costly mistake buying them. Hopefully mine will be the same when I get them changed over Saturday.
I take it there was a very noticeable difference between the correct pads and the wrong ones?
What other post do you mean by the way?

it was a post about something or other but it turned around to a guy in Milton Keynes area asking about doing a run sometime. You said that you might be interested. As MK is not too far for me from the A34 south of Oxford I thought 'count me in'.
I am off for a run to Bath area on Saturday to look at the rebuilt yellow Chim that is in the Classified area of PH, rebuilt by Bell Hill Garage. Am tempted but don't know if i really NEED to spend the money!!
