Fuel gauge fixed !!

My fuel gauge has always read over-full, then after about 200 miles it settled down to full, then quickly ran to empty.
After a week at Le Mans having to try and remember what mileage I'd filled it up at, I finally decided to explore.
On removing the 5 (or was it 6) bolts holding the sender onto the tank and removing the sender unit, it turns out the float is connected to the sender by a bit of coathanger wire. By holding the entire assembly against the outside of the tank the float was probably sitting at about 1/3 full at it's highest posistion, so by bending the wire upwards the fuel gauge now reads the correct(ish) reading.
I've posted this on here in the hope that it helps somebody else with a similar problem.
