Hi.
Had my suspension shot blasted.
But the lower front wishbones, revealed a few holes.
Should I have them repaired or should I replace them.
Thank you for any response.

Serious? I reckon the local Romanian with trumpet driving scruffy white Transit van would pass them by.

Hi.
Thanks guys.
Yes your right, no brainier. Replace them.
I’ll order a pair Monday, or Tuesday if shops are closed for bank holiday Monday .

I have just been reading some previous posts.
Where the lower wishbones, actually break off at the ball joint end.
Very scary results.

You are so right.
This fault, only showed up, after they had been shot blasted.
I would hate to think, how many are in that or worse condition.

Definitely bin! This got binned last year when it was found. Was scary to think I had been driving around on it.

Who’s the service tech MOT tester on these cars. Don’t answer that!
Owners might not like getting under them but it wouldn’t take much to find that!
Holy crap.

It’s a bit like wax oiling a chassis 10 years to late, the damage is already done.

If that’s a visible wishbone you wonder what else gets missed.
That’s total negligence on both owner and whoever maintains it to me.

Years ago service centres started wax oiling them as a preventative measure.
This just covered the already breached and rusting parts.
New wishbones rust within 2 years without protection in my experience.
They are a designed weaker element of the chassis for crash safety and so you don’t bend or snap the chassis on impact with something solid so an item to keep close eyes on.
It doesn’t have to look like this.

That’s my main concern.
The holes only appeared after the wishbones had been shot blasted.

These are photos of the wishbone, before been shot blasted, and after.

Thank you all for your response.
Thank you for the info classic chim.
Looking at the before photo, which shows the wishbone, as very little rust protection.
Most of the powder coat, as gone.
I now know for safety reasons, it needed replacing, regardless of the holes appearing.

The cross bar is very common and an easy repair if the rest of the wishbone is OK.
The hole on the other one is not common and I suspect there will be other spots where the metal is now too thin so replacement will be required.

These items are not expensive to buy new so repair is only cost effective if doing the work yourself.
Garage overheads mean we very rarely take a second look at ones like that and just replace.
