98 Chimaera.

My normally effective and efficient parts control system (jars with labels on) has let me down and I am in need of window switch, the one that sits on the centre console and controls the up/down movement.

Anyone know what they are off of and where to get one ?

I think the switch is a Vauxhall part - Astra / Cavalier

What's the matter with it? They're pretty easy to take apart and clean with switch cleaner.

Thank you all. Have ordered one of these, not 100% certain it will fit as jury seems to be spilt on this.

What's the matter is its gone awol in my garage, it is there but not 100% sure where, no doubt I will find it just after fitting its replacement

Maybe I should have said if you take your garage apart and clean it then it may turn up ;-)

Fun story when mine failed I'd accidently hit raise the window and it got stuck continuously trying to close the window. If it wasn't bad enough that the switch was getting warm I was at the French border police checkpoint having just arrived at Caen fortunately it was a new bread of border police that actually had a sense of humour and I was able to unplug the switch to prevent anything burning out.

Haha.....nice one

As you suggested, you read my mind.....had another look yesterday and indeed the missing switch turned up (IN THE WRONG JAR !!!). Now I'm not prone to forgetfulness so I can only conclude someone broke in found my jar labelled "dashboard fixings" then put it in the other jar labelled "Ignition parts".....if I find who did it they are in big trouble.

Anyway that aside it looks like the one I ordered off the bay is not going to fit.

That’s like me forgetting injector clips by simply removing the injector clip box from my eye line and thus me forgetting to fit them.
My filing system worked pretty good by me leaving each container in a visible place until it was completely empty
That said the shelf stacker needs to do is job properly in the first place rofl

New Astra switch arrived.

The good bit is the electrical plug on the Chim fits into the Astra switch, bad bit is the switch is too big to go into the recess in centre console.

Conclusion, if you need a replacement, go to Racing Green Parts

If you are happy to either modify the switch or enlarge the recess in the centre console then the Astra switch will fit.

You need a Mark 2 Astra switch. You have bought a Mark 3.

irked apologies for the duff info. Glad you've found the original. I'll delete my link to prevent others making the same mistake.

No problem, I think that if when we can't get like for like the Astra ones will be ok, just need to dremel them to fit so its useful info.

Astra mk2 vs mk3, I have so far not be able to find any references or images that support that so still looking.
