The future of TVR
Discussion
Once the final chimaera with the thunderous v8 rolls off the production line, what is going to happen to the future of TVR, i say this after reading articles and different threads on different forums and have wondered with the reliability issues of the speed 6 and ajp8 engines will TVR still have the following it has got now knowing that the new model car engines aren't up to great expectations with the ajp8 and speed 6 engines failing or needing rebuilds before and around the 30000 mile mark, whats going to happen to there resale value then, will people still purchase these cars knowing they have a liability of breaking down, will TVR owners have enough and purchase a different marque or will TVR identify the problem and reinstate the burbling v8 rover units back into their Tamora's and Tuscan's please, as i own a chimaera 400 at present to me the next step is to purchase a chimaera 500, supposed to the cerbera, tamora or tuscan, not that i dislike the models but the reliability issues and financial cost of spending £0000's at every second service or 12000 mile yearly interval certainly takes the grin off my face.
TVR is a wonderful marque to own and i certainly want the culture of TVR ownership to continue for years to come. I for one want more relaibility in these newer models, enough said.
Driven on tonight Tamora versus Boxster , down with the porsche !!!.

You do have to wonder how long TVR can withstand the financial implications of sustained quality issues (if indeed this is true) coupled with a general economic downturn and worse for them, dramatic downturn in IT/city bonuses.
They must be selling fewer new cars as people either tighten their belts, worry about losing their jobs, or don't have the big bonus to blow on a new TVR.
And every hour that you pay a bloke to rebuild an engine is money down the drain...
Cash flow must be tight at TVR. It'll be interesting to see their latest accounts (year ended 31 Dec 2001) which they have to file at Companies House by the end of this month (right up to the wire on the 10 month deadline).
Not moaning about reliability of TVRs, but worry about TVR going under

:I'll get me coat:
Didn't Porsche nearly go bust in the late 80's/early 90's when their market dried up?
Edited to say I'm leaving now to go and spend my city bonus on a whole oil change
