Does anyone know whether the original carpets are wool or synthetic. I'm planning to rejuvenate mine with some brush-on colour restorer. The trouble is, there are different versions of restorer depending on what material the dye needs to adhere to

Sorry, I don’t know, but I do know that there have been mixed reviews about dying original carpets.
Personally, I found that the Renovo roof (dark blue) dye worked well (better than Dylon).

I’m pretty sure the original carpets were wool.

As ever with TVR, it depends. What age carpets are you talking about?

For example in the wedge days wilton (wool) carpets were a cost option, but in the Sagaris wilton was standard.

Aha, it's a '99, so one of the later ones

I have a vague recollection that it was optional in the Chim too.

I'd pull a few fibres out and stick them next to a match head. I'd expect wool to burn to a thin ash fibre (like human hair, as any real TVR owner will know from the many times they've accidentally singed themselves), and an artificial fibre would probably melt and form a small glob. Probably. Anyway, I reckon burning it would give you a clue.

I've dug out an old price list, it is from 1997 but close enough. As you will see wool carpets were still an option, so it is all down to the spec of your particular car I'm afraid.
