Chimaera paint colour?
Discussion
Hi all I’m new on here and just acquired my first TVR Chimaera 5ltr.
I’m trying to find what the paint colour is.
The handbook states Rosso Corsa, code 196.?
I’ve looked on the paint codes for TVRs and it’s not there.
Also the car was first sold at Brooklands Exeter and was wondering if anyone on here would know where I can buy the door cill plates from?
Many thanks.

What is on the VIN plate under the bonnet? There should be a body colour code. That's also known as Ferrari Red and the one in the handbook may not be correct.
I had a quick look but can't find any TVR paint code starting 196. An owner could have a new one any colour he liked so it may be a one off of course. If you're trying to match red, good luck! I doubt any touch up paint will be exactly right due to age / fading etc.

Hi,
The advice I always follow when trying to match paint is - ignore the paint code.
Even if you were able to buy paint according to the code, it’s highly unlikely to match what is on the car.
Reason is that the original (or any age of paint) will have changed due to exposure to sunlight etc.
The best bet for a match is to take the car to a paint supplier equipped with a spectrometer, who will be able to match exactly what is on the car.
Good luck!
