Hi all,

I'm looking to dip my toe into TVR ownership and have been on the lookout for a nice Chimaera.

Ideally I wanted one with a restored chassis to avoid the inevitable, but the following has caught my eye.

https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/12246277

The chassis has been treated with Waxoyl and looks to be the original, I've sent a couple of messages to the owner and he appears to be a totally genuine person and has stated that at this moment in time it doesn't need any work doing on it.

Does anyone know any more history of the car? MOT history suggests it's been cared for and it's had a lot of work done on it, but I just wanted to get a few more opinions before I make the trip North to look at it!

Thanks.

It looks a very nice car but I'd be disappointed as to why somebody just went banzai with the waxoyl and covered the springs on the obviously aftermarket dampers. I like to see them but that's me. smile I do like the black instruments and portland grey leather. Aftermarket brake discs is good too.

The only other observation is that a new V5c was issued on 14th August 2021. He may have moved house, or lost it, or it could be due to adding the displayed registration. Judging by your comments, it's obviously not a trader. A slightly bizarre price though?

Thanks for the reply.

I thought the same about the Waxoyl...I like shiny stuff!

August was when the current owner bought it, having had the work done by SD Autotech TVR.

It was supposed to be his last TVR as mentioned in the ad, but due to disability he's struggling to drive it.

You would want to do a full chassis inspection, you can never be too careful.
Price is a little high but looks a nice example.

He's been putting that on the last 5 or 6 he's sold biggrin Seems to be well known in TVR circles.

Aah, is Allan Howell at it again? I cannot understand how PH haven’t cottoned onto this; when I sold three TVRs in quick succession a few years back (not trading), I was banned from advertising until I could prove my name was on the V5s!

How does he continue to get away with it?

Allan is a top bloke Benjy and well known in TVR circles, as amongst other things he has designed (and fits) a superb Tuscan bonnet conversion.

He is struggling with his mobility - its not 'BS'! When he did my Tuscan bonnet conversion a few months ago, it was a real effort for him and he admitted he was looking to reduce his collection.

He'd no reason to tell me porkies to me as I wasn't looking to buy a car, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy one off him.

He clearly wasn’t struggling so much with mobility when he bought the car three weeks ago!
