Door latch mechanism problem

When I try to lock the doors on my chim I get the clunk of them locking followed immediately by the clunk of them unlocking. Have checked all 4 solenoids and they are operating.

The passenger side latch mechanism appears to be a bit broken with some of the plastic components cracked and broken away.
(1998 ie no push buttons on outside with buttons under wing mirror).

Anyone know what car they came off originally , I know they are vauxhall but not sure which one ?

Hi,
Sorry, I don’t know, but if the door locking mechanism is giving trouble it would be worth checking the switches on the sills.

They are prone to corrosion, but easy to clean up.

Good luck!

Thanks Paul, in this case its not those, just been down that route fixing the immobiliser and sorted the switches which work fine. Just need to get the latch mechanism, something like this ???

This is often the push button in the sill. The button reports 'door closed' to the immobiliser and door lock control. If it reports that the door hasn't closed it rejects the lock request

Eating humble pie, you fellas were all right, faulty door switch drivers side.

Despite cleaning and refixing the switches to sort my alarm issues the rubber bits on door bottoms were weak and not fully depressing the switch button. New rubber s made and fitted now all good.

Would dearly still like to know what the locks came off.

The ones used by TVR do not have the extra bracket you see with two part numbers stamped on to it.

Appreciate your post thanks.

I found that too by searching the part number last week, so I called them,

So still looking, found one on another site in Russia, not sure I want to give them my card info ???

There are two versions of these locks, one with a full seal the other with a partial seal (either would work in this application).
Being different they have different part numbers and the numbers I quoted above are for one type.

I once had a RH lock of the other type and it came in a GM bag with 90275104 written on the bag, this may get you to the other type.

Usual disclaimers apply smile

If the part is a Vauxhall Cavalier Mark 3, then try the Cavalier Mark 3 forum. It seems to be active. The same lock also apparently fits a Senator and a Carlton, 1987-1993, so try ebay for any of those cars. The Calibra was based on the same car and they probably used the same locks. I am sure that you will know that the same car was called an Opel Vectra A in Europe and a Holden Vectra in Australia, so maybe search for those cars too.

The Vectra A was sold in Russia and there is even an owners club, so it's not necessarily a scam if there is a part available in Russia
