Time Delay Relay Test
Discussion
Can someone please advise how to test the basic functionality of the 5pin 68125 courtesy light delay relay which I think also feeds the heated mirrors? Ordinarily I'd expect the coil to energise with 12v across the outer parallel pins (30&31) but no joy and there is no continuity (IE full resistance) across these terminals. Not sure if the timer circuit requires it to be activated with a different configuration. Thanks.
Called a relay but is actually a relay plus some electronics. A component known to fail frequently and a source of battery drain. If you are not bothered about the time delay a simple mod will turn the interior lights on when a door is opened and off when a door is closed.

To test it you would need a lot more than a multi-meter and or 12volt source.

Thanks Loubaruch and for the helpful attachment which didn't come up with my searches. Yes, I was just trying to activate the relay gate, rather than test the timer circuit, and seems from the diagram that I ought to be able to do this but reckon, as you say, that my unit has gone the way of many others. Looks like this only covers the courtesy light although I'd got it in my head that it might have also catered to the heated mirrors....as there seem to be various permutations of how they are fed. I'm not overly bothered about having a time delay on the interior lighting so may revert to the shorting if the second hand unit I've ordered doesn't work; the price of a new unit seems unreasonably high but I guess it reflects the economics of a short batch run.
