hi all!!you all seem like a friendly bunch..picked up my first tvr last week & havent stopped smilin yet!! a 97 chim 400 1 owner(a mate) 1200 miles on the clock & she runs like a bag of sh1t...but I love it!!!
(tickover & between 2000/3000 rpm)I've replaced the plugs/leads/cap/rotor arm/fuel filter but its still no better!!..... any ideas much appreciated
also anyone know of a tvr club in north wales?

The tickover speed (and possibly running speed too) are because your stepper motor is dirty. There are so many threads on this you'd do well to do a search on 'stepper motor', loads of info on cleaning this unit. Once clean you need to be selective with your petrol. The stepper motor fouls up quickly with cheap petrol. Try Optimax or the BP equivalent.

thanks....have tried cleaning the stepper motor & where it lives with carb cleaner & it has stopped it cutting out but still runs lumpy & has flat spots under light throttle
I've been lookin at other posts & I see its a common theme!!

I've been experiencing dodgy idle speeds just over the last few days. If you check out my 'bah breakdown' thread, you'll see the result

Well, thats what we think it is at the moment

Try checking the ECU connections, they can sometimes go a bit dodgy. The ECU is down by the battery in mine, but I have no idea where other stuff is.

Possibly a poorly stepper motor. There is a test you can do to make sure it's functioning properly. I've never done it but I read about it here.
