Drivers side window rubbers

Has anyone attempted and been successful in changing the window rubbers on the drivers side?

If so is it much hassle and where would you purchase the rubbers and what kind of glue / sealant would you use?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

which rubbers are you on about, the top targa seal one or the upright one to the rear ???? Gizza clue

Before Big Al has a chance to chip in, Sikaflex is what you need. According to Al, it's not available from Halfrauds but can be found at other motor factors (e.g. Partco).

but he has a 99 Chim which means the targa seal is in a slot - not glued on.... ? ? ?

The rubbers that run within the window frame that the window glass runs up and down within.

IIRC, Fernies used to sell the stuff - might be worth giving them a call.

As for fitting, no idea guv, but I'm someone will be along shortly...

I managed to get the window channel rubber from my local TVR dealer. Fitting it is easy if you can simply slide it down from the top of the door. However if you have to get into the door then you need to take off the door panel and that means you need arms no thicker than a childs but 4 feet long!! the problem is reaching the nuts that hold the panel on and are located right at the rear of the door.

I took the door panel off and fitted the new rubber chanel but if faced with the task again, I would have ago at sliding the rubber channel in from above

Did you have to use a glue or sealant at all to fix the rubber?

How much was the rubber from a TVR dealer?

I did not initially use glue but I noticed that it was sliding down, so I attached the top of it to the metal channel with some pva type glue and it seems to be doing the trick. The material was not expensive, they gave me a good couple of metres and from memory I think they might have charged around 10 quid.

www.tvrgear.com/ sell the stuff.....TV0170 outer door glass seal its around £2 a metre IIRC.

It is simply glued in place in a channel in the top of the door skin.
The pain is getting all the old rubber & glue out of the channel before fitting the new stuff.
