Fuel smell

Filled her up today, first refill after the breakdown repairs, and for the first 3-4 miles there was a strong whiff of petrol in the cabin. Its gone now.

Is this to be expected, seeing as the engine was in bits, and work to the fuel system has been carried out?

Hi POD, mine smells of fuel every now and then, usually when hot or slow movin traffic.

The breather pipe on the tank came off on mine a while back. I should check as see if it is still in place.

Check the carpet in the boot - if its wet, then the bracket that holds the rubber hose that goes from the tank up to the filler neck may have worked loose and when you fill up, some petrol can squeeze out from where the clip/bracket should have been.

Thats what happened to mine - thought the tank had a leak but it was this simple
