I know this subject has been covered before, but just thought I'd post the difference I've noticed since fitting it (SNB802 equivelent)

For as long as I can remember the car has had a habbit of stalling at the most irritating moment, always when I pop the clutch in and the revs drop from 2k-4k, when approaching junctions etc.

Garages I've taken it to have plugged it into the diagnostics computer and the main reason given is that the ECU isn't receiving a signal from the speedo sensor (the signal splits off under the dash though an amplifier and is reaching the speedo but not the ECU).

I found a intermotor equivelent of the Lucas SNB802 and fitted it a couple of days ago. I reset the ECU incase it'd learned to ignore the old sensor (apparently the ECU uses a default mapping if a sensor is thought to be dickie). After a few miles I noticed a huge improvement. Not so much with speed or power, although it seems more torquey at lower revs. But the main change it how much smoother it sounds below 3K rpm.

It no longer stalls, it now drops to about 1.2k rpm and then falls to idle over a couple of seconds. It's doesn't judder and cough after just been started, and also it seems to have cured the stalling. Also I sometimes noticed a flat spot at about 2.8k rpm which no longer seems to be there.

Also it seems happier crawling in traffic.

All in all, a bit of a result really, a fiver well spent!! Cause it's an intermotor part, don't know how long it last!! Time will tell. They've stopped making the original Lucas part now though.

Drove down from Wests Wales to London last night and it seemed to use about a sixth of a tank less fuel than normal too! Usually use almost a full tank on the 250 miles journey, and had just under 1/4 left last night.

Hi Dan, or anybody else !
can you help me and FFG out ? The speedo amp, what voltage do you see on the grey wire ? On a Griff its easy to get to, just pop out the drivers air vent, not sure about your car though.

Not actually read the output of the amp. I'm waiting to get my hands on an osciloscope to get some proper readings. A multimeter isn't really up to the job.
