Grille Mod done

Bought some woven stainless steel mesh from CC motorsport, this is the medium grade, there are 3 sizes of hole type.

Used the dremmel to cut it out using the old grill as a template (getting plenty of use at the mo!)

Im not 100 % sure yet, i think it looks ok though, anyone else like/dislike it, and has anyone on PH done this cos id like to see alternatives.

Matt black would be more to my taste, but nothing particularly wrong with it.

I'm with the matt black crowd too, but a nice job nevertheless. Imagine the shiny grill in this pic:

- would it look as moody, or would the grinning TVR break the mood somewhat? Lovely pic by the way.

Yeah i know what you mean actually, i think i need to live with it for a few days. If i were to do matt black i guess the sucker would suffer with the dreaded stone chips, unless there is some special paint or treatment.

Or of course i could just put the old one back in

Thanks for the kind comment on the pic BTW. Its a photoshop job, but both the elements are my photos.

Nice job, well done. I took the easy way out and had mine resprayed (see profile). Wasn't sure at first but like it now.

I quite like the silver, there is nothing wrong with looking different. Change it to black and all the hard work is down the drain and you might as well have left the standard grill on it.

I say keep the silver mate.

I have had a laser cut stainless steel grille made, see profile, I love it now but I did wonder if i liked it when I had it done first, now I love its individuality. Again its all down to personal choice.

I'm up for the bright finish too. Mine has a grille made from 8mm round hole perforated aluminium (done by previous owner), see pic in my profile. Matches satin finish door buttons, bootlid hinges etc too.

Check out my profile. I quite like the grille, looks better when the reg plate is mounted low.

Its held in by about 43 million allen bolts

Shorty, I think it looks great. What did you make the edge out of? It would be interesting to see if a mesh grille could be made for the later front end, like Razorman's, but covering both slots from behind, as the radiator has no protection in standard trim.

The outer surround is a rubber bead, removed from the standard grille. I actually put the old grille back on yesterday, but gave it a fresh coat of satin black paint as it was lookin tired... May put the mesh one back on at some point though.

You'd have to make it from two separate pieces IMO as the top aperture slopes backwards at quite an angle if you put something across the back face of the aperture:



I'm leaving my lower one alone at the moment as I think the numberplate has got most of the Rad protection covered.
