Ive never ever owned a car (and ive had lots) that is so mardy towards new tyres! when i bought the car it had worn so2's on all round and handled errrrrr ok, replaced the rears with so3's and to put it bluntly it was unsafe, changed the fronts to toyo's (a week later no so3's left in my size) and it changed again, not great but more stable, a 1000 miles later the car is as good as its going to get without new shock's but like i say ive never had a car that becomes so unstable on changing tyres. Y! is this, o and just one more gripe, is it just me that has to tuck my door windows in under the roof rubbers because they trap on the inside, a new full closure alarm will cure it but wot an odd designe among many. still goes like stink though, i'll post a pick when i've worked out how.
The thing is regardless of wot tyres are good or bad and to be honest the so3's are not bad tyres u could put them on any other hi preformance car and from the start any tyre would not have such a dramatic affect, sure they all need scrubing in but to make a car unstable untill at least 700 miles is odd in my book, maybe its got something to do with a 15" at the front and the light weight.

my unqualified hunch is that this is an important factor.
I was franklly alarmed when I went to the toyo T1-S (admittedly larger diameter / 40 profile)in terms of rear end instability, but that just evaporated over a couple of hundred miles, ending up with potentially sprint-winning grip. Oddly the second set didnt seem to have the same break-in characteristsics and seemed to stick from the start...

What pressures have you been running the tyres at?
Hey folks, just add a little number here, my grip is pretty spot on I feel. You have to proper give ehr some to get the back to go but tramlining is my big prob and eneven road surface. If his bumps on motorway then she feels like she going to take off. Is this more to do with shocks than tyres. I running on Toyos.
The wearing in and heating cycles is more important than one might imagine.
I got new SO2 with the TVR wheels upgrade, and went up to Bedford aerodrome a good few months later after a fair amount of road driving -- on the track both myself and my friend who had driven Tess before the wheel change on older SO2's thought she was really light and not as planted as before (maybe the Taraka engine was bringing us in and out faster??).
However after a good few labs and rests she came together with teh tyres gripping and it all feeling planted.
Findaing??? -- the heating up of tyres is more important than the wearing off of relase agents - from a test case of one.
