Upper diff bush - what size allen bolts?

All the diff to chassis bolts are:

7/16 (20tpi) UNF x 3.5" (at least they were on my car)

Correct socket/allen head for this should be 3/8.

BTR and GKN differentials have different length bolts into the rear casing (R0048 has a 10mm up-stand, R0008 does not). I have found on lots of cars that they were too short and only engaged on a couple of threads, which allowed them to pull out and the bracket knocks rather than the bush failing (but obviously not in the OP case). Then there was the need for the bracket to be replaced where it had twisted/torn. A@
