Idle Speed

[Gaffer]

Something is afoot with Miss Daisy, when stopped at Traffic lights, I have to turn the radio off to hear the engine still running.

I have noticed that the idle speed has dropped to around 900 and she is getting quieter and quieter.

Any ideas chaps?

Mine normally idles at about 900. Have you cleaned your ears out recently?

Stepper Motor was done by TVR about 2 months ago.

Idle speed was just over 1000 then. its dropped as time has gone on.

Theres an allen screw on the plenum, normally covered by mastic to stop it moving. This sets the idle speed.

I think I will get her looked at by Dad.

Just wondering what the idle speed should have been.

I dont like her this quiet.

Although going home last night, there appeared to be a football match on in Manchester and I had to fight my way along the road that was filled with people, and a little boy stopped infront of me and wouldnt move till I had revved the engine once or twice.

I think 800 is about right from what I have heard, and I would say 1000 is too high, but then, I know FA! HTH!

Mine sits nicely at about 1000 when warm.

Mine was ticking over at about 800 and very rough. New coil and magnecors and now she idles smoothly at just below 1000.

I think it is meant to be 900rpm. My tacho always shows it at 1000rpm - when measured with an oscilloscope it was near enough spot on 900rpm. So don't believe what the tacho tells you.
I would have thought that the idle speed was regulated by the ECU reducing fuel flow until it got the number it wanted.
