Never worked on my current car.

From what I remember, the LED on the top lights green (unlocked) press it and it changes to red (locked) with the clunk of the door solenoids.

Mine doesn't light and looks damaged. Central locking works fine, just can't lock the doors from inside.

Is it a world of pain to fix? Or is it fairly straight forward? Anyone know where I might get a replacement LED from? And which fuse I should check, although I'm thinking it isn't a fuse as the remote locking works fine.

How old is your car? The early ones only lit in green when locked, and unlit when unlocked. There was no red. I guess there were 2 leds in later cars.

It's a 98 facelift (Mk2) 450.

That said, I'm remembering my first Chimaera, so perhaps it didn't light red. I do remember the green though. Either way, pressing it does nothing and it doesn't light any colour!

Mines a 2000 year car and I know it lights up green when engaged.

Sadly can't help with a fix as mine has started being temperamental recently and now takes anywhere from 5-10 attempts to get it to work. Not that I really ever used it much to be fair !

Never worked on three of my cars. Never missed it, and on the ones where it did work never used it!

That’s interesting because when I first got my 2000 car I’m sure it lit up both red and green depending on status but then only worked with green light for awhile then someone told me it was only a green light and I’ve always assumed I’d imagined the red light but looking back i’m more convinced it did indeed light up with both colours!
So I might ask a friend who’s pretty handy with TVR electrics to investigate closer and give me a definitive answer.

I agree. I don't miss it. But I know it's there, so I want it to work. If I can get a blue LED to match the interior and dash lights, so much the better. Even if I don't get the locking working, it would be nice to have it come on with the dash lights.
