Door adjustment

Just had a respray, which obviously required the removal of the doors. Unfortunately they've not been refitted correctly and are not closing. I can slam them closed, but that's causing damage to the bottom of the door and the kickplate, and there's still a gap between the window and roof upright.

Is this easy to fix? Is it just a case of loosening the alan bolts on the locking mechanism on the main body, or does it need adjusting at the hinge? I checked the bible but there doesn't appear to be much on this.

I will search the forum, but it's not working at the mo, and I want to fix this asap!

Toby. What 'The Bible' does say is that it is best left to experts. Have you taken it back to the garage? If they knew how to take the doors off, they should know how to refit them.

Hi Andy - The garage owner delivered the car, but I didn't realise the extent of the problem til he'd gone. I'm booked in for a service with David Batty in a couple of weeks and he always sorts these type of problems for me, but I'm eager to get it sorted NOW! I'm very impatient when it comes to my car!

Recently needed to adjust my driver's door, moving the top hinge did the trick, not hard to do.
I marked the position of the top hinge before I started using some masking tape. Loosened the two nuts, lifted the door, tightened them back up, job done.
The passenger door hinge nuts would be a bit trickier to get to but not impossible. HTH

Straight back to the respray garage, get them to fit the doors correctly, and repair the damaged paint around the sills.

Im with POD. My old 400 had a bit of door drop and I couldnt get it to clear the sill without the door then being too high to lock. Its also then jammed against the roof panel. It took my trusty garage several attempts to completely fix involving adjustment to the hinge box, lock mountings and window runners. It needed sorting, as like you Id just had the paintwork done. The previous owner of my new 500 had the doors succesfully realigned by that nice Mr Batty.
I reckon you need 3 arms and lots of patience so would recommend that you allow the responsible garage to correct the problem.
