Connector block
Discussion
Can anyone identify this connector block strapped to chassis and What it’s connected too.
You will notice two wires from my oil pressure sender of which one is standard and the other is going off to ground on the o/s outrigger as per other earths.
Not standard so don’t let that confuse you . The connector block mounted on the cross member looks like it goes off towards the front of the car but for the life of me I can’t remember what it’s connecting. The wiring coming out the left side and up looks like an MBE connector to me so I’m getting confused.
This is all on behalf of a friend

Looks similar to the connector I have mounted on the chassis tube that passes next to the steering shaft.
I thought it was to power everything in the nose. So horn, carbon canister, chassis earth, windscreen washer pump, otter switch (if yours is a later car with it in the radiator) and all lights.
But thats not gospel so I'll happily be corrected !!

Not a place I’d choose to site a connector really, seems an odd location.
Well in truth as soon as the engines been running awhile and the gaskets have popped the oil dripping allover it protects it rather well
Agreed actually but centrally is possibly the least likely place to get washed from rain and crud thrown up by the wheels. As far as I'm aware it’s never failed in 20 years of the cars active life so why I put it back where it came from.
I have noticed I’ve pinched the cable tie too tight there or it appears this way in the photo? Not something I normally do with electrical connections so need to lift the car and check that.
In fact I think I cut it off and replaced it now come to think of it.
This is as i’m putting mine together so still faffing about and leaving most cable ties loose or tails still connected so easy to check or remove.
It's for the purge valve. Pin 1 white/purple (cable No48) goes to pin 87 on fuel pump relay. Pin 2 slate/yellow(cable No20) goes to main engine ecu pin 17. Not sure RV8 efi UK cars have a purge valve. So the other connector which disappears at the front is probably not connected to anything. Unless the valve on top of the carbon canister is used for purging. Hope this is useful. Dave.

I think it's part of the evap system ,the purge valve works with the engine running which is fed from the fuel pump relay and controlled by the engine ecu. Also on one of the above questions the RV8 14cux doesn't have a crank position sensor. Dave.

See I knew that Edited by DVR V8 on Wednesday 26th October 23:12

And yes I’ve read as much in the past regarding the purge valve being controlled by the ECU.
The suggestion of crank sensor was because I think he knows I’m on MBE ECU.
Thanks for all the replies. Ridiculous I forgot as I’m sure Dom told me this years ago.
