I’m on the final stretch of the rebuild. Has anyone any tips on fitting the lens and headlamp covers?
Is there a seal or do you just use sealant?
How much and where do you put sealant on the cover?
Thanks in advance

There is a black neoprene seal that goes around the glass lens but you can fit it without the seal, just use black Sikaflex EBT from Screwfix. Position the glass using the outer shroud so that it just makes contact all the way round. Fitting the shroud also requires a blob of Sikaflex to afix the top to the wing

Use enough mastic to fill any voids so as to not allow water to penetrate past the lense.
Originally I think the rubber gasket helped seal lense against the body which is often not very uniform and then mastic applied.
It’s the same process without gasket.

I simply pushed lense upto aperture so it found its natural place then applied upvc tape to hold it to body then filled the gap around lense and body with mastic. When dry remove tape then fill in the gaps.
You will be creating a bed of mastic for lense to sit on basically.

Use the wing nut nuts to pull reflector back so glass can sit flush to body, not that’s it’s perfectly flat anyway mind.
As long as you can adjust the reflector freely once it’s trapped behind the lense your good to go.
