Stolen Chimaera Wheels

I have just had a phone call from a local car Club member who has had his wheels and tyres stolen. Sounds like a stolen to order because they scale a fence, broke into his garage and jacked the car up and took all 4 wheels and tyres. Bad enough in itself taking the wheels but they also caused some body damage in their clumsy r sole manner.
Anyway 2 things, should anyone offer you a set of 4.0 Litre Chimaera wheels with excellent Bridgestones please get their contact details and let me know. Secondly has anyone a set preferably with tyres to get him motoring again.
No point in telling our glorious boys in blue,according to the victim they were totally disinterested, seemingly burglary is no longer a crime on their scale of crimes anymore, pity they weren't seen driving away at 35 mph, that would have got their juices flowing and a possible crime solved and £60 in the kitty. !!! sTeVeR

I am really sorry to hear about your theft. I had some stuff taken from my Grand Cherokee (in a locked boot) whilst I was out buying a coffee back in Jan. Saw it happen from about 100 yds away. Again Police not interested even with descriptions, reg number, etc etc. I'd love to get a hold of the scumbags for a little 'payback'!! I hope you get sorted out soon!
Sorry to hear about the loss. They need their balls chopping off, just so they realise what it's like to lose something that you really treasure. Bit of a crap opportunity but i've got my originals which i have been looking at selling in order to get some 7 spoke griff wheels. They're not in great condition though?
sadly with the specialist breakers wanting 700 pounds a set for chim wheels and 900 pounds for griff 500 wheels there's a pretty good market i would imagine if you can keep your gob shut. I get people asking me if i know of wheel sets going so there's no shortage of punters ..
doesn't help that they're ford/peugeot pattern so will fit all manner of scrote chariots (apologies to ford/peugeot owners who aren't scrotes though, you know what i mean..).

The standard wheels and tyres are only any use to the owner of another Chimeara. They were therefore clearly stolen to order by or on behalf of someone that had previously seen them?
I am sorry to say this, but they are likely to have been stolen by someone known to the owner or they have met somewhere fairly recently. I suggest they put their thinking hat on and try to remember. For instance has the car recently been somewhere for servicing perhaps or MOT?
Was the car locked and alarmed in the garage? Did the alarm sound and if yes, what happened? The insurer might have insisted that the car was alarmed even in the garage. Tell them to check their policy before making a claim as failure to declare full circumstances may eventually lead to a refusal by the insurer to pay up at all.

Wrong. As Joolz said, they will fit Ford's and Peugeot's too. And would seem the most likely scenario.

I agree that Chimeara's use Ford hubs so that these wheels would fit any suitable Ford. However these cars use similar sized wheels front and back, a set of wheels from a Chimeara will look a little odd on a Fiesta don't you think?
What is more, most modern Fords are front wheel drive not rear wheel drive, so which axle do you suggest they put the bigger rear wheels on? Or is this a new boy racer trend?
I stand by my assertion, these were stolen to order for use on another TVR. The perps know the owner or at least have had contact with the car. I do not believe that this was simply a random attack.

I'm afraid I have to think that Peter is most likely correct. Thieves tend to a lazy load of bisturds and will not travel miles. Trouble is that now Chimaeras are down to £7000 and "S" Series down to £3000 they are now attracting the cant afford to run it brigade and faced with £5 a gallon fuel, crippling insurance but the need to have flash wheels the prospect of working to pay for new tyres as opposed to stealing a set is too difficult for them to comprehend. Better for them to keep a bit of benefit in the pocket to get ratted on friday night!! Bring back the cat

He's not realised he will have trouble fitting them but will probably do so for the spectacle.
If a TVR owner stole them,and was part of the general TVR fraternity, i'm sure somebody would notice new wheels/tyres on his car and possibly ask questions.
Unfortunately it would be very difficult to prove ownership unless they could be identified.
Hope they get found/returned anyway.
Might be wise for any future purchase to have those microdot security marking things they use on motorcycles put on somewhere or some good locking wheel bolts.

I think they're worth having, a sufficiently determined scrote will have the wheels anyway but anything that discourages them has got to help. The wheel nuts are standard Ford pattern so take one of the existing non-locking ones into your local motor factor to get a set of locking ones to match.
