do you think a 92 4ltr griff with 56k on the clock and a full service history is over priced at 14k(dealer price)
even though it come with a one year tvr warranty??

When I was considering selling the 500 (96) with 30k miles, full leather, pas, adjustable shocks, the best colour combo etc... I was going to ask for £17k ish.

You can buy a warantee yourself (although never as good as a delear's quibble free offer)

id say a little bit, unless its stunning condition. warrantys are a waste of money most times. read snmall print carefully.

My '92 Griff (FSH - only recently by specialist not dealer) 46k on the clock, bought it in April this year was a shade over 11k (which included some expensive extras)

All it needs are new carpets.

If you think its worth the money then buy it, if you don't then make an offer for what you think is reasonable and be prepared to walk away.

A car is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it.

I bought my Grff 500 '94 with 32k on the clock in perfect condition for £14,800 only a couple of months ago. Therefore I would say it is overpriced!!!

At that age and price plenty to choose from, better to buy from TVR club members. See Sprint, plenty on offer.

I reckon its overpriced YES.

Even if its immaculate you can get 500's and good 4.3's for that money.

I would never pay that much for a 4l personally.

Do some serious looking around. I saw 500s in pretty unimpressive nick for around the the price you mention, and at least one lovely 4.0 (maybe the one andyvg got) for 3 grand less with lots of extras.

Yep it's overpriced. £12K max. Offer him £12K if he doesn't accept walk away. There are loads around at that price...and plenty of 5 litre cars are available for £14-15K

Condition ??? I would say on the face of it yes it's overpriced but it all depends on what the condition of chassis, running gear, and body work, along with how good the warrenty is ?

I would say for that money you could be looking at a good private sale early 500 or you could find a tatty 500 for much less if you looked hard, but you would have to have a "cash pot" to dip into in order to bring it up to scratch.

If it's any help I just bought a '94 mint 500 griff + 1 yr warranty + full service + private plate with ftvrsh and 37000 miles for 16 k (when I say mint it looks brand new inside, outside and underneath etc although the rev counter is suss and the reversing lights need sorting !!!). From what I have seen condition is easily as important as age and although you are bound to pay more at a dealer you can always go back. I tried to get below 16 k (he had wanted over 17k!?) but it was obvious someone would have paid the same or more. That said at 14k it wants to be in good condition.

bought my 4.0ltr 18months ago for 13k had 68000 on the clock but had a full service history and stacks of reciepts to back it all up with.this is my fourth tvr(second 4.o griff) and not had much trouble. seems they prefer to be driven than just sitting in a garage waiting for the odd sunny day to appear. good luck with your purcahse.

as long as the work is of a good standard you should not have any probs, in fact with the wider grill of a 500 you will get better air flow and cooling. and the pre cat models always sound sooooooooo good. good luck.
