Newbie wondering about brakes

Hi,

A new Chimaera owner here. I was told the brakes are the same as a Ford Escort's. Is this correct as I want to upgrade to drilled and groved brakes and buying Escort discs will be very affordable!

You don't say what year your Chim is as there was a change in the brakes around 96-97.
Mines a 97 and so has the vented rear discs and 260mm fronts (240mm fronts and solid rears on pre-face lift cars).
Mine I believe are Sierra XR4 fronts and Escort Cossie rears, or may be the other way round. I upgraded mine to Black Diamond 12 groove front and rear for a total cost of £280, obviously this cost would be the same for an Escort as well as a Chim as the parts are the same. A breakdown of this and part numbers is in my profile.

Mine are 260 and 283 vented front and rear, i've just upgraded mine too Grooved and drilled at the front and std at the back, Most feedback comes from the front anyway and i didnt feel it neccesary to go the same all round

Anybody know any good places to get these?

RM Carspares will do you EBC stuff in all the old ford sizes. I have used them in the past with no problems

They were very helpful and took 2 days to arrive, they were also the cheapest I could find.
