OK, if i were looking for info on my car i would say, "H* RCR"

Somebody would know that reg, not just because its a fast yellow one, but humans can read between the lines...

It's just good manners towards those who might not appreciate having their number plate on show. Personally, I'm not bothered hence why on my profile pic, I have my plate on show.

If its a car for sale where the plate is easily available to all an sundry, then I can't imagine there's a problem...

Not me personally but with around 50K members on PH someone might.

It may have been owned previously by a PH'er for instance.

For instance my old Chim was R** EAN I personally know of 5 others cars that have R** EAN on them! and no not the same as mine before you ask!

Congestion charge = really good reason for cloning plates.

I originally hid mine on my profile, but what the hell, it can be seen out on the road, down the shops, at the pub, anywhere really: if someone was intent on stealing it's identity, they would.

I think this is also to do with the owners' rights. If Joe Bloggs spots my car and posts on here, I, the owner, have no say in this. Well I might not want this to happen. This data is personal and it should be the owners decision to publicise it, not the 'spotters'.

The owner of visordown.com displayed his reg plate and now he gets several NIPs a month from people using his rg plate when riding past speed cameras.

I've enquired about the plate several times - never been released and I did offer them a stupidly large sum for it... but not got it.
