Cluth cable snapped now AAHHH!!

On my way to the garage this morning to get the temp gauge sender changed, my cluth cable snapped, i am having noooo luck whatsoever :-(

Erm, they don't have cables. Checky your clutch fluid, and check slave/master cylinders.

The clutch is hydraulically operated, so it sounds like you've either got a broken pipe, or a slow leak that has been allowed to drain the fluid out, or a failed seal, or a broken clutch actuator arm/pivot.

yep just been told the same by the garage lol i just assumed it would have a cable, are the parts readily available? there isnt a garage near me that has had experiance with TVR'S so it up to me to source parts, still trying to find a temp gauge sender too, not the one going to the ecu

Best find out what the problem is before you think about ordering parts.

still waiting for the fella to come round and look at it, been promiseing to come since 10 am, and the car is stuck inthe unlit lane behind me house, its now past 6 and i am starting to worry ( at least i have protected no claims lol )

Doesn't it have a garage to live in overnight? If you can't push it home, with care it is possible to drive it without the clutch. I recommend pushing it the last bit into the garage tho :lol:!

i was driving it out the garage when it went on me, there is a very steep incline to get in and ouit of the garage, when it went i let it roll back and turn it round best i could, now it stuck out side, with hindsight, i should driven straight back up the slope on the starter, but i didnt think the garage would let me down :-(

Don't know what the surroundings are like there, maybe being left outside in the summer is no big deal.

If you decide to try to run it up on the starter, let the engine run for ten minutes first to warm it up and thin the oil out.

If you do want to move it without using the starter, it's possible to push a car up a moderately steep slope single handed if you use the right technique, as long as the ground is firm (i.e. tarmac or concrete). You'll need a house brick or similar to use as a chock.

Area isnt too bad ( but my dads car was stolen from the same spot last year lol ) as for pushing it, being 8 stone when wet means it isnt that easy ( i am am still recovering form a broken hip and leg, told you i get no luck ) So its in the lap of the gods now till monday Thanx anyway, will keep u updated

There is a technique which can enable you to get a car (slowly) up a hill that is far too steep to simply push it up by brute force. It sounds like you are OK, but if you aren't happy leaving it there then drop me a line and I'll try to explain. You don't need to be big or strong, you just need to have a decent ground surface under you.

They picked the car up at 10.30 tonite and fixed it within the hour, it was the hose under the car that had split, they have replaced it with a cooper one, hope that solves the prob
