New Road Angel Laser Alert Faults

Recently got new road angel for my Chim 450 - Laser Alert continuously going off. Have tried sorting it myself. Have replaced RA2 wire with screened wire direct to the battery and have tin foiled the underside of the dashboard and wherever I position the unit it still goes off. Is there anyone out there that can help?

Mine only does it when the windscreen wipers are on. I have positioned mine in the centre of the dash well away from the windscreen. Seems ok there.

mine in our truck seems to show mobile alert al the time on RA 1

I have mine just behind the mirror at the top of screen, no problems so far at all. Never noticed the wipers giving it any jip either.

Thanks for all the advice but it's still going off - worse now. Has anyone had to use a Ferite (probably spelt wrong) Choke to resolve the problem as Tracker have suggested this may sort it out and also may need to put in a new earth return! Bit reluctant to spend more money if it still won't work. Has anyone else had to resort to these lengths to get the RA2 to work properly? Not having much joy from Blackspot - they just tell me its a common fault with fibreglass bodied cars but they fail to tell you that before you buy! Anyway hope someone out there can help.

I used to get the same problem (constant laser alerts) when I mounted the New Road Angel on the bracket on the windscreen in the Chimaera. However when I mounted it on the magnetic pad in the centre of the dash top then it worked a treat.

Nothing to do with the Road Angel unit itself, as it works fine in the windscreen mount on my Audi.

Mine works OK mounted on the dash, but if it is a big problem and you have a Roadangel 2 why don't you just disable the laser detector system, which you can do. It was done like this so you can comply with the law when laser detectors are outlawed.

The laser detector is a bit of a waste of time anyway. Unless you have it positioned with a clear view forward and backwards, which is very difficult in a Chim, it won't register a true laser signal anyway.

Also even if it is working correctly and you hear the warning, it will be too late anyway as you will already have been done. It does not give you an advance warning it just lets you know you have been zapped.
