Hello again to all.
The rubber seal above the driver's side window on my Chimaera is constantly coming away. As it's part of the removable roof pane, it's pretty easy to get at but I wanted to know if there's a trick to getting it to stay in and not pop out again. I am assuming that no adhesives are involved, it merely sits in a slot, so how best to get it back in? I imagine a spoon/flathead screwdriver/coin/ceremonial dagger/narwhal tusk or similar object being used to tuck the thing in tightly will suffice but it's a tricky customer. Anyone got any secret method for getting it to stay put?

Slide the rubber out of the channel until you get to the bit that’s popping out then use a bit of washing up liquid on the channel and rubber then pull it back in from the end that’s still in the channel feeding the rubber in as you go.
Once done poor some hot water over the rubber to take off the washing up liquid.

How old or new is the rubber?

Has it deteriorated enough to not hold its shape any more?

Has the metal channel become deformed at all?

I replaced the rubber on mine recently, as the passenger side had been cut a little short so keep retracting to leave a gap.
I used the Mk2 version, which interestingly is deeper top to bottom, but slightly shorter across the profile than the previous profile I took out.
Stays where it should though.

Very easy to install, just slides in from one end. Took me about 10mins to do both sides, just be sure to measure how long you want it (easy to shorten, impossible to lengthen!)

I have now successfully achieved this mighty task by tucking the rubber back into the slot. There was no need to remove and slide back in, (which would have required some form of lubricant) and all I used to perform the operation was my front door key. Now there's a "life hack" if ever I saw one.

You said you had problems with it coming out so I offered the correct way to do it. How do you think they get them in there.
You can use a key too if it works for you. wink
