Chimaera bladder problems!!!!!!

Hi guys,

I am just after some advice.

I have a leak comming from the water pump (The hole that is cast in the casing). I know this indicates that the internal seals have more than likely gone. Has anyone removed the water pump stripped it down and replaced the seals rather than just replaced the pump with a new/second hand one?
If so were the seals easy to get hold of?

This happened to me last summer. Removed pump, but couldn't strip the internals, though i'm sure an industrial pump specialist could do the job.

Bodged the leak by gluing a drill bit into the hole! Last about another month before the pump seized up completely.

Took ages to source a new pump - they were in very short supply.

i did think about glueing the hole up as well!!!

I have full use of a machine shop so there must be some way of stripping the pump down...i read in 'The Bible' that you need a fly press (which i have)...i shall give it a go tonight...if not i shall be glueing the hole up and then sourcing a new one....i take it the seals inside are just to protect the bearings and once they go the bearings become wet = seized water pump????
