Poor low end running

I am a new Chimeara owner with a 96 4.0L model with 71K on the clock.

My problem common with some other earlier entries on the site is poor sub 2000 revs running that feels like a misfire. Car is superb above this but makes running into a city centre or parking on a multi storey really hard.

I have had the coil, leads, the heat shields and plugs replaced and the stepper motor shines within an inch of its life. The vacum advance has been disconnected and this makes little difference so has been reinstated.

Is this something now I should ignore or look to getting the ECU examined and to test for faulty sensors etc? Love the car but really hoped that an 8cylinder 4LTR would be incredibly smooth. The frustrating thing is my 31 year old MGB runs far better. Advice an comments would be really appreciated.

There are a lot of Griff owners with similar problems - I changed the tune resistor (6p) to pre cat spec and it made a huge differnece but apparently it cooks the cats and may cause a fire so not really an option. I spoke with DOm at Power and we are goinmg to try a fuel pressure regulator as he beleives it may be running lean below 1,600 revs which is where mine is kangarooey.

I had the same problem with my chim.... very annoying!!
after some advise on here I changed the ECU temp sender.. (intermotor part no 55128 its about £5 & takes 5 mins to fit & reset the ECU) & she drives like a new one now

I had similar problem and had temp sender changed and it worked fine. However, I still have problems with uneven idling and occasionally dying straight after starting e.g. turn key, engine fires, revs immediately drop away to nothing and stalls. Will always re-start immediately but have to rev it to 2K revs a couple of times before it'll tick over - it's fine on cold start....

Admittedly it's my second car so only gets driven once a week maybe - could this be the problem ? I know they like to be run. Stepper valve is clean and throttle pot was adjusted when temp sender changed.

I get something similar and am thinking it may be the injectors that need cleaning ? ??
