just got a chim, nead a little help

hows it goin, just got a beautiful blue 1995/6 chim 400. its got to be said its the nicest drive ive ever had. the only thing is a couple of days ago i noticed that when the engine was hot (around 80) the revs started to hunt a little (move between 1000 and 1800) when idling. the engine has also been getting a little on the hot side. does anyone know why this is, cheers JJpp!!

At the back of the plenum, underneath the black metal grille, is a small device called a stepper motor. Its a valve that allows air in, to control the idle speed of the engine.

It gets a bit cacky, so unscrew it and check its nice and clean (including the chamber).

When tightening it back up, only do it JUST A BIT PAST FINGER TIGHTNESS with a spanner, or you'll break it.


Oh, and the engine will get hot. As long as the fans come on, it should be fine. Turning the cabin heater on full blast can help. Check your coolant level as well.
