Jammed seat belt

Could any one tell me if the seat in a 1994 Chimera
can be found on any other make of car. The passenger seat belt has jammed on mine and I think needs replacing, unless anyone knows diferent. I managed to prise the side cover off, only to find a tangled up spring but can not work out if it can be repaired.
I am also trying to stop the heater control from slowlyturning to cold with out using a bit of old card jammed in the dash. Any ideas?
