my broken chim!!

While on Le Blatt I went to turn the main lights off and the console that houses them collapsed inwards. It would appear that a flange that should have been there to hold everything in place is missing (friday pm car?) any one else had this problem? and how did you address it. Looks like the new dash is coming sooner rather than later, but i don't want to put a new one on until everything behind it is sound!!!

If/when you get Leven to fit it ask them to put another bracket on to hold it in place. Will be easy to do once they've got the dash out.

Hello rooster,the exact same thing happened to me.
If you take your stereo out,and then the wooden facia,you will probably find a small triangular bit of metal just laying at the bottom.Believe it or not,when they were assembled at factory the whole switchgear was all held in place by this bit being glued to the inside of facia.
after a few years the glue goes brittle and snaps.did mine nearly 2 years ago,and has been fine since,used arraldite glue.
Easy job really.goood luck

Still not sure whether to go with S/s or veneer, heart wants s/s but taste says otherwise. I love your dash but you have cream upholstery and mine is black, might be a bit too bling, I get ribbed enough about the grille!!

Same dilemma as I have, then. I think the S/s would look great against the blue interior of mine, but there's just something about the veneer - it gives the Tiv an old-fashioned characteristic which is rather nice.

Yup Cosmos, so many people have said veneer, trouble is my grumpy has me set to do the whole veneer thing as a winter project, I just wanted to buy one and get it put on, leaving me lots a driving time!!!!

Hi Rooster,
I can definately recommend the Leven ally dash, I think it looks superb and is definately not too bling! Much better than the veneer IMHO!!

that looks gorgeous, and defo not too bling! Oh heavens decision, decisions, may have to go to the next Essex run now!! and I though my car was shiny!!You still into bikes?

Hiya Rooster! Thanks for the comments glad you like it! I will hopefully see you at the Mid Essex run then! Yes am still into bikes although only have a track bike now, so don't ride on the road. (2001 GSXR 1000), use it for track days, although it seems to be permanantly on paddock stands at the mo
(prob something to do with the Chim!!)

hey go smokey, I have just put them on and it looks wicked. better than clear and far less dated than the orange. Can you get blue ones? Yours might like better in blue!

this is fatal, If I come to the essex meet I will end up talkng just bikes and tivs!! my fav subjects.
