Battery jump starter thing for £25

Following a bit of a starting problem at the moment I have just bought one of these as is on sale for half price:

My battery had some charge as locks/lights etc worked but would not turn over at all, not sure this would be powerful enough if you were fully flat but worked a treat on mine this morning just giving it enought extra oomph. If I ever go really flat I would just leave it connected to transfer some juice over first. Compressor also handy as runs off internal power meaning you haven't got to have a flying lead from the cigar like with other compressor.

Anyway thought I would post up here as there was I believe a discussion not so long ago about the halfrauds versions of these and at this price is a bit of a steal.

Just done a google on it and found this info:

It mentions "400 crank amps/900 peak amps" is this enough for a RV8?

It is EXACTLY the same as the one that is in my car at the momnet and it has no problem turning the V8. I have used it to start mine when the battery has been totally flat three times without charging it and it has been good...

but fingers crossed I wont need it for much longer now I finally have a new battery.

900A is enough to melt an RV8!
Seriously though, a friend of mine has one of these - he paid about the same price. He pumped up a flat tyre on (and then started) a V12 Jaguar that had been stood for some time. The box of tricks worked well, but I'm dubious about the 400A claim (and certainly the 900A claim) with the puny cables and crocodile clips fitted to it.

I've had a similar device for quite a while and it has been such a good buy.

It has done everything from pumping up an air matress on several occasions to providing enough power to fully run and drive my old jag for a couple of minutes when its own battery died and left it stranded blocking the entrance to my carpark one evening. Not to mention jump starting my motorbike several times when i hadn't used it in a while, oh and giving power to a stereo headunit that i had removed from the car without first remembering to take the cd out.. Doh!

Bargain for £24.99, mine was from Argos for about £40 if i remember right.
