i'm finding myself falling deeply in love with my 450.... more and more satisfying as i discover the pleasures it all. thing is i find myself cleaning it most weekends but i want to go deeper and after reading the corvete mod my desire to get the wheels off and clean that chassis and shocks... i've got no tools can i get a set of sierra spanners and where's me jacking points?

My I suggest visit Halfords they would be able you set you up with a decent range of hand tools for under a £100, I would suggest getting a decent trolley jack and axle stands if you are intent on taking the wheels off, and remember never get tempted to work under the car with it up only on the jack, Most dangerous.

I have found Halford a little expensive for tools etc. Try Machine Mart, they do a very good jack and axel stand set for about £24, and their 'Clarke' tools are excellant quality for DIY.

As for jacking points, i normally raise each corner up off the out-riggers enough to get the wheels on blocks. This gives enough space for the trolly jack which is placed under the main chassis rails. Axel stands should also be located on the main front-to-back chassis rails.

I struggled to get a trolley jack under the front...took off its wheels (the jacks) still didn't fit and had to jack from the side. Then saw an article on Piston heads ...suggested running the cars wheels onto two stone flags...what a good simple idea...usually the best

I used machine mart for the jack and axle stands combo.
Great value for money and they arrived within a couple of days! They seem to be robust and are better quality than some I have seen.
Use a number of sources for tools, until I win the Lotto that is, and get a full set of Snap-Ons!!

so i'll visit machine mart and buy a jack and stands... getting the wheels off, i know i could buy some new tools, but i'd rather spend the money on optimax and buy them later. If we're running cosworth, are the wheel nuts the same as ford? if so i'll borrow the nieghbours
