That is odd,

Me: also 33 , 6 points, claim in last 5 years for car that got pinched, insured with Adrian Flux £430 - ok limited to 3000 miles not 5000 and mines a 450 not a 500 but still can't imagine makes that much difference and with my points and claim thought it would even out. Got me scared about renewal time now

A Manning were the only reasonable one for me. Same cover as Hughsie. (track days etc)

26yo, no no-claims, my first car in the UK, garaged, 5000 limited mileage. £875 (or something like that)

But if it wasnt garaged I would be taken off their classic car cover and put on a normal policy at over £1300.

edited to say: mines a 94 400 Chim

Hi all I have mine with Aone insurance services. Paying about 650 tel no 08717 801003 if any help. Might be worth a quick call as they specialise in TVR. Fernhurst put me in touch... Happy hunting

Try Chris Knott: 01580 752961, sorted me out with my Tasmin 23yo (then) 2 accidents in the past year (one fault, one non fault), no NCB etc etc. They passed me on to Lancaster who they use for their classic policies, ended up the only company who would quote me.

Iain

Being diabetic adds quite a premium due to the risk of a fit.

1) Diabetics don't have 'fits' - some exercise less stringent control than others, and some are naturally better controlled than others, but incidences of low blood sugar are entirely preventable with diligence, responsibility and forethought.

2) It's illegal to load a premium due to the existence of a medical condition (so I've been told by several insurers) - this didn't used to be the case, but apparently it is now. The situation may be different if the insured's GP or the DVLA evidence poor control.

Sorry, but I'm touchy on this subject!

Well, I'm not sure of the situation now, but many years ago, I had a room-mate who was diabetic, and his insurance premium was very high because of it.

You could try confused.com I am 27 with no claims points etc and they found ASDA were the best for me at £660 which surpised me a lot although i haven't tried any of the prestige/sports insurers yet.

Bollox, agree with Griffter, they can ask you how well controlled it is as a risk but cannot load premiums, i actually have to renew my licence every 3 years and they (DVLA) write to my doctor to see how well controlled i am...

I'm kinda touchy on this subject myself...

I was with Aone, but when i notified them of my change of address this morning they said, "we cancelled your insurance, in june Mr Hughes, you havent supplied us with your Drivers licence" Despite them refusing to issue a Cover note for Lemans when i needed a spare driver adding, they took the money for it and issued the cover note when i faxed ALL of the required information over to them and got confirmation from them...

I've done nearly 5,000 miles in the Tiv since June and havent been insured for any of it...

I would suggest that insurance companies do what they like regardless of any regulations - you have to remember that they are doing you a favour by insuring your car for you......Shysters (sp) the lot of them!

Yellow ones are bound to be more expensive as well

With respect, with the exception of the £800-£900 plus quotes, unless you're over 35 with clean licence etc, what's the problem with the quotes you've had ?. If your expecting quotes around the £300-£400 mark, don't buy a group 20 car. As for some of the other comments from people with points, it's bound to get worse, that's how it works!. Apologies, I know there's loads of you out there who won't agree, and yes, I know there are always exceptions, but get on with it. £500-£700 for a Tiv, for a 35+ year old, depending on individual circumstances/location etc, that's what it is.

Well, that goes without saying, you know yellow's faster, ergo, therefore a higher risk
