Took the car for an MOT today, assed ok, but the milometer has stopped working, although the Speedo is ok?

Drive the car back home and the mileage was recorded 11 miles, turned the car off, removed the key and isolated the battery, then when I returned the milometer had zeroed again!

Any ideas?

INSIDE this version of the speedo is a 3v watch battery that holds the odometer as memory, that IF you have a flat battery and turn the ignition/jump start the car the watch battery will be a source of power that with simply disappear and the odometer reading will reset to zero. If you can find a bezel as it needs to be replaced and know the mileage for it to be reset to...then there is a way forward (I install an external battery holder so it can be replaced at service intervals too). Adrian, thanks for the reply.
Do I understand the bezel has to be removed to access the battery but gets destroyed in the process ?

Surely with care it can be reused?

Is this repair something you can assist me with please?

Or can I replace the Speedo with an improved or updated version ?

I've seen pictures of Chims with milometer and trip meter, can mine be replaced as a direct replacement with this version, or is it a no no because it's electronic sensors and stuff?

If so, any ideas where I can source a suitable Speedo please?

I had to replace mine as the LCD panel had failed, ordered a speedo with matching rev counter from here.

Best to call them and talk it through, they are very helpful.

They may even be able to repair your original.
