Overheating Issue

Hi, have got a slight over heating issue with my 94 Chim.
Runs perfectly for first 20mins. Heats up nicely, fans kick on and off as needed. After 20mins the fans dont kick in and the temp guage shows overheating. If at this point i turn the car off then start it again (or put on ignition) the fans kick in straight away.

Maybe the relay is on the way out, 20 minutes is about right for a failing relay to overheat and give up - and then come back to life when it's had a few minutes to cool down.

Thanks. Any idea where i would find the relay?! Its just odd that when i turn off the car with the fan not working and then start it again immediately, the fans kick in again.....

Yes it is a little odd, but still consistent with the theory that it is a relay fault. Relays will be in the fuse/relay panel in front of the passenger's feet.

I had an intermittent otter switch it may be that? Wrongly I assumed that the switch either worked or not but after a few months of occasional overheating I worked out that it was deciding when to work somewhat randomly!

Think it is the original rad.
I have had the rad reconditioned, new otter switch, new thermostat, new pipes. I hope its the relay because i cant think of anything else! (unless the new otter switch isnt working!)

Radtec for new rad - they are the nuts
