Hi all....

Not sure if i have a problem as i dont know how it should react....anyway i tokk my fuekl regulator off last night to see if it was working ok...there are three openings...petrol in...petrol out (into the fuel rail) and the vacuum pipe. Now i would assume that by blowing down one of these holes you should get air come out one of the others...but i didnt get anything...is this right???

Also i am taking my chim down to Falcon Performance in middlesbrough due to admitting defeat in trying to get it to run properly. Has anyone ever heard of them and if so are they any good???

Hi Andy,
Still running rough. Didn't you take it HHC (remember a previous thread you said you planned to)...did they find much?

Cheers
Andy

It is running worse than ever now.
It seriously is doing approx 6-8 mpg!!!

It is booked in to Falcon Performance on monday...so i am taking it down there tomorrow. Hopefully they will be able to sort it out and as soon as i find out the problem i am going to post details up here!!!

Only if you can blow at the pressure at which it is trying to regulate (which I believe is fairly high). And I would hope that the hole to which the vacuum is connected does not allow air to flow even at high pressure.
If I were you I would take it to someone who knows what they are doing - are there no good indies around you neck of the woods?

Somewhere around 40psi IIRC, no chance of blowing through that!
Have you checked the pressure in fuel rail before assuming there's a problem with this?

I thought you needed to suck the vacuum pipe, and that opened the fuel pipe? You'd need to suck very hard though. I'm not saying how hard, other people with dirty minds can tell you that.

You can't really test it off the car without some fairly special equipment. With it on the car, if you disconnect the outlet and add a hose to redirect it into a bottle you can confirm that it lets fuel out when the pump runs. This confirms that it hasn't jammed shut. (If this had happened the fuel pressure would have gone through the roof.) You can suck on the vacuum line and confirm that it holds vacuum. The only other check it is meaningful to do is a pressure check, which requires a suitable pressure gauge plumbed in upstream of the regulator. In practice this really means plumbing it into the supply side of the fuel rail. Since this sees full pump pressure it's not something you'd want to tackle casually.
