Took the motor for an MOT yesterday and amung other things, it failed on worn front bushes. The ones that are worn are the top and bottom ones between the wishbones and the hub.

As I'm selling the car soon I reckon I'll replace them with standard TVR ones from tvrgear.com.

My question is, while I'm replacing the worn ones, is it advisable to replace the slightly worn looking ones between the wishbones and the chassis??

If so, are they the same part?? Is it loads of extra work?? Will I be able to line up the suspension with some degree of acuracy again??

Cheers, Dan :)

The front uses ball joints between the wishbone and the hub, for rotational purposes.

OK, so these are badly worn. Can anyone tell me what I need to ask for, where to get them from and how much of a nightmare it'd be to replace them?

Thanks, Dan

The bushes between wishbone and chassis are the sandwiched rubber types - metal cylinder inside another metal cylinder with rubber bonded between. These made excellent spacers for my wrought iron garden gate. A common mod is to replace these with poly bushes, which are easire to fit.

Changing these bushes, for either standard or poly bushes, won' affect geometry, except perhaps to eliminate any slop which may have developed tp put the geometry out of line. Removal of the old bushes is a biatch though - best done by an engineering shop with a large hydraulic press once you have removed the wishbones.

I think you will have to disturb the geometry when replacing the ball joints, especially the top one - if memory serves. The top hub mount is adjustable to change camber, and will need to be carefully marked before disassembly to ensure it goes back together the same.

OK, looking on tvrgear.com, I reckon I need one of these and these, is this right?? Do I need the hole ball joint?

Cheers, Dan
