Just fitted a new poly V drive belt to my '96 Chimaera 4.0, after fitting I noticed that it had jumped partly off one of the pulleys (top right when looking from the front). The pulley that the belt partly jumps off looks a bit further forward than the others. The new belt is from the TVR main dealer and has the same part nuber on it as the old one. I can't see any way of adjusting the position of the pully that appears too far forward, has anyone any ideas? (BTW, No Air Con or PAS)

Is the pulley on back-to-front?

Hi andy i have had this happen a few times the bearing that the pulley mounts to moves in the ally housing causing the pulley to be out of line, to check undo the pulley bolts and remove pulley then undo the bolts holding the bearing carrier to the housing on the head, look at the back of it (the big nut side)the bearing should be flush with the housing if there is a gap then it has moved, causing the belt problem.

I had another look at the pulleys tonight, it looks like the pulley at the top right is symetrical so may not make any difference either way, I have not measured it yet so I could be wrong.
I'll check the if the bearing has moved at the weekend.
After taking another look, I suspect that the Alternator (top left pulley) may be too far back, would this cause this problem?
Thanks for the suggestions so far, looks like I've got another busy weekend ahead.

You're right, took the top right pulley and housing off and there is a gap between the pulley housing and the bearing.
Is the bearing just pushed back into the housing?

Thanks andy, I took the bearing out of the casting, cleaned the bearing and housing and put some locktite on the surface of the bearing, warmed up the housing and the bearing pushed back in easily by hand (a bit too easily perhaps?).
Thanks alot of the advice, all pulleys now aligned perfectly , just hope it doesn't come out again.
